Exciting things are happening in Dorchester! The new Boston Center for Youth and Families (BCYF) Community Center in the Grove Hall neighborhood is underway, bringing valuable programs and resources for all ages.

With a generous covered front porch overlooking a leafy landscaped entry plaza, the design creates a new civic and community focal point on Geneva Avenue, in dialogue with the existing Boston Public Library branch across the street. Inside, the 42,000 SF facility offers a 5-lane swimming pool, gymnasium, senior center, teen center and more, creating an all-ages hub for recreation and connection. The exterior features sculpted metal panels and carefully placed windows that bring in natural light to the pool area while reducing glare and maintaining privacy for swimmers.

Rooted in a robust community engagement process that began with a study for locating new community centers throughout Dorchester including surveys, more than twenty public meetings, and hands-on workshops with students and seniors, the project reflects the voices of local residents. We look forward to seeing this center become a vibrant gathering space for the neighborhood!
