Utile’s Betty Greene Apartments has been honored with a 2026 Citation Award for Excellence in Architecture from AIA New England, recognition conferred by a jury of regional peers as part of the New England Architecture Awards.
Named for the late Betty Greene, a longtime Urban Edge board chair and tireless community and housing advocate, the building reflects the ambition and humility of its namesake. Located in Boston’s Jackson Square, steps from the MBTA Orange Line, the 65-unit development provides 100% affordable, Phius CORE certified homes for individuals and families earning between 30 and 60 percent of area median income.
Betty Greene Apartments demonstrates that affordable housing can be a catalyst for design and sustainability rather than a constraint on it. This latest recognition follows the building’s 2026 AIA Housing Award earlier this year.
