Utile’s Park School Renovations and Additions project has been recognized as a Special Mention in the 2026 Architizer A+ Awards in the Educational Interiors category. With entries received from over 70 countries, the A+ Awards Jury selects Special Mentions alongside Finalists and Winners to acknowledge remarkable achievement in architecture and design.

The renovation transformed a deep, windowless block of underused athletic spaces inside The Park School’s 1960s Brutalist Main Building into a new academic suite for the Upper Division. Working within the existing concrete structure, the design team replaced solid brick façades with floor-to-ceiling windows opening to a newly designed memorial garden and Larz Anderson Park beyond. The result is a five-classroom suite, a flexible collaboration space, a new woodshop, and an expanded fitness studio, all carved out of what had been the building’s darkest and most underused zone.
The project is part of a broader master plan developed by Utile to align the school’s mid-century Main Building and surrounding landscape with the goals of its 21st-century pedagogy. The full 2026 A+ Awards gallery will go live in June.
