It’s all in the details! We are delighted to share that the Brick Industry Association selected Park School for the Brick in Architecture Gold Award in the Education K-12 category!

The project added an elevator, vestibule, and side entry to the 1971 building at the Park School by brutalist master architect Earl Flansburg.  With a distinctive existing condition, this addition leverages the subtle material qualities of brick to simultaneously emulate the existing building and set itself apart from it. As existing masonry buildings are adapted, emulated, and expanded, brick has a unique capacity to defer to the past while calling attention to the present.
