Belmont Day School Vision Plan

In ​the summer of 2013, Utile was selected to provide a vision for the Belmont Day School. The overarching goals of the study were to a) provide flexibility for the school’s curriculum while increasing non-tuition revenue, b) enhance the character of the building and campus, and c) ensure that small-scale improvements are understood as incremental steps of a larger plan. The result was a menu of capital projects that will improve functionality, provide ​flexible space, and clarify the circulation patterns of the campus.
During the highly collaborative process, the Utile team met with every faculty and staff member individually to understand how the guiding principles could manifest themselves in a series of built projects, large and small. The resulting plan is compelling, ambitious, and flexible and reflective of the culture and values of the Belmont Day School.
