Boston Preservation Alliance 2018 Awards and 40th Anniversary Celebration

Utilians had a wonderful evening at the Boston Preservation Alliance’s (BPA) 2018 Awards and Anniversary Celebration, where our Jamaica Plain Branch of the Boston Public Library renovation and addition received a 2018 Preservation Achievement Award. The project team was inspired by the stunning views of Boston’s rich architectural history from the ceremony’s venue at the State Room, and especially by the evening’s other award recipients, which varied from a beautifully restored fountain in Boston’s Public Garden to a newly built residential building in the Fort Point neighborhood. The evening included presentations about the award winning projects, and celebrations of the BPA’s 40th anniversary, the 30th anniversary of the awards themselves, and the 10th anniversary of the BPA’s Young Advisors Board.

The BPA does crucial work to preserve Boston’s historic architecture, urban form, and public spaces, an effort that align’s with Utile’s approach to the thoughtful consideration of context, nuanced reading of urban dynamics, and respectful adaptive reuse. We are thankful for the Preservation Achievement Award and look forward to the BPA’s next 40 years!
