IMG_0461[1]Jonathan Evans and Meera Deean of Utile served as facilitators for a Fit City Boston charrette at ABX. The charrette, organized by Gretchen Schneider of the Community Design Resource Center in cooperation with the City of Boston, considered ways that the urban environment could encourage healthier lifestyles. The charrette participants looked at vacant parcels in the Mattapan neighborhood of Boston, an area that has a high incidence of asthma and less park space than other Boston neighborhoods. A lively discussion generated ideas ranging from urban agriculture and solar trellises to new playgrounds and outdoor exercise stations.
