We are so happy to share that @dept.__ and Utile’s Houston Concept Neighborhood Framework Plan has been awarded an Honorable Mention in the Urban Design & Master Plan category for Architect’s Newspaper’s Best of Design 2024. The plan leverages a developer’s portfolio of adjacent and scattered sites to frame a public and active promenade connecting the MetroRail Green Line to the Buffalo Bayou eastern riverfront trail in Houston, TX. The sequence of open spaces and walkable streets are conceived as a series of connected outdoor “rooms” that stand on their own as discrete plazas while also providing broader pedestrian connectivity. 🚶🌳🚲🏙️
