As the on-call consultant for Providence, Rhode Island’s I-195 Redevelopment District Commission, Utile has been advising on strategies to unify neighborhoods previously divided by the I-195 highway, and to attract new development and business opportunities to Downtown Providence. The project team is excited to see the most recent phase of the district’s revitalization come to life with the official opening of “The Shack”, a pop-up seafood restaurant, sited on a lively new green space with performance stage and seating areas for diners. The new opening at One Ship Street was celebrated by the public with a festive block party and concert on Friday night. You can read more about the project and watch WJAR’s broadcast of the opening here.
