The Imagine Boston 2030 project team was honored with a 2017 Comprehensive Planning Award from The American Planning Association Massachusetts Chapter (APA-MA) at this year’s Awards Luncheon. Imagine Boston was launched in 2015 as the city’s first comprehensive plan in 50 years. The plan charts a new course for the city, establishing a cohesive and actionable approach to enhance access to economic opportunity, and ensure that the benefits of growth extend to all Bostonians. Nearly 15,000 resident voices shaped Imagine Boston through a variety of traditional and innovative engagement methods, including community workshops, open houses, text messages, online mapping activities, street team exercises, and industry roundtables. Imagine Boston brings together residents’ ideas and responds to their imperatives to form a road map to a more inclusive Boston.

The plan represented an unprecedented level of coordination between City departments, led by the Mayor’s Office and the Boston Planning and Development Agency. The consulting team was led by HR&A Advisors and Utile, and supported by Inkhouse CommunicationsGreenberg ConsultantsHood Design StudioMichael Van Valkenburgh Associates, and NelsonNygaard. Congratulations to the entire team!
