We are excited to share our Pride Month Artist Logo by featured artist Maria Molteni! Their practice spans monumental groundworks, immersive installations, and ritual-based collaboration — conceptual, formal, and deeply committed to queer and trans community.

For this piece, Maria uses the space of the public restroom to push back on anti-trans legislation rooted in a long history of racial and gender-based segregation. As designers, how are we creating spaces where our queer and trans neighbors, family, and colleagues feel safe, seen, and free to just be? What does it look like to design with those bodies and experiences centered from the start?

Interested in learning more about some of the history behind this work, check out Toilet: Public Restrooms and the Politics of Sharing (Molotch & Norén, 2010).

You can also join us for an artist talk at Utile on June 16 at 5:30 PM.

Read Maria’s statement in the gallery posted here and learn more about their practice at www.mariamolteni.com.
