Utile and Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates (MVVA) have been working with the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, the City Planning and Development Department, Eastern Market Corporation, and The Nature Conservancy on the Eastern Market Neighborhood Framework & Centralized Stormwater Management Master Plan. Reporter Duncan Allen interviewed Utile principal Tim Love about the team’s progress in a piece in The Architect’s Newspaper, Utile envisions a grand, new future for Detroit’s Eastern Market. In his interview, Tim discusses plans for the ongoing revitalization of the bustling 24-acre district that include historically sensitive future development, the expansion of food processing and distribution businesses, stormwater management, and the integration of pedestrian- and vehicular-oriented uses.
