Utile, with CPCS Transcom, is helping the Tanzania Ports Authority develop strategies to revitalize the downtown Dar Es Salaam waterfront. Like cities across the globe, Dar Es Salaam is trying to capitalize on its waterfront as a driver of economic development and quality of life while maintaining the functionality of its working port. The new development, centered around a new Zanzibar ferry terminal, will create a vibrant, mixed-use district for residents and visitors. One of the most unique elements of Dar’s waterfront, especially for a city of its size, is the naturally sloped beach on the edge of downtown, which will be preserved and enhanced as part of this effort.
