Jamaica Plain Branch Library Wall Covering
As part of the 2017 renovation of the Jamaica Plain Branch of the Boston Public Library, Utile designed a custom wall covering for the children’s reading room. The bright yellow graphic complements the colors of the furniture and custom designed millwork in the room. The characters depicted in the graphic are from books by authors or illustrators with ties to New England. Utile worked with the Boston Public Library and representatives for all of the books depicted in the graphic to acquire permission to use the characters illustrated in this one-of-a-kind graphic. The covering spans from floor to ceiling. The graphic even slips behind the bookshelves, providing young readers a close-up view of their favorite characters at their own eye level.
