Climate Ready Dorchester Open House and Bike Ride

Utile is thrilled to be working with SCAPE on the Climate Ready Dorchester plan to develop coastal resilience solutions for Boston’s biggest and most diverse neighborhood. This is the fifth in a series of neighborhood plans undertaken as part of the Climate Ready Boston initiative which creates a road map for making the city more resilient to threats posed by climate change and sea level rise.

The team is taking a holistic approach to understanding the Dorchester waterfront and its relationship with the neighborhood. Last month, our team biked along the waterfront to understand the various conditions of the shore and harborwalk, and barriers to access from within the neighborhood. This plan will aim to strengthen connections to and through the waterfront and enhance its ecology while protecting against threats from coastal flooding and sea level rise.

Join the team at our first community open house on Wednesday, Sep 25th from 6-8pm at the Leahy Holloran Community Center. We’re excited to hear from the community about what we can do to make the shoreline, from Columbia Point to the Neponset River, more resilient and accessible!

We are eager to continue our efforts in enhancing the region’s resilience!
