Teaming for a Win in Portland, ME!

Utile and Boston-based landscape architects Klopfer Martin Design Group (KMDG) collaborated to win the commission to redesign Congress Square in Portland, Maine, a 1.3 acre public open space and traffic intersection in the heart of the City’s downtown Arts District. The historic square, anchored by the Harry Cobb-designed Portland Museum of Art, is a crucial axis and public space in the city. The project will include strategic open space planning, the redesign of the square, and streetscape recommendations. KMDG will lead the effort and Utile will provide urban design and strategic support. Both firms are thrilled to do a significant project in Portland, one of our favorite New England cities.
