EQR Longfellow Leasing Office

This small-scale renovation transforms a ground-floor leasing office within a two-tower apartment complex, serving as a pivotal step in the repositioning of the Longfellow Apartments. In relocating the leasing office, the project frees the existing second-floor space for future office-to-residential conversion, enabling the addition of 24 housing units.

Originally completed in the early 1970s, the complex offers expansive views of the Charles River which serve as the primary design drivers. Soft hues of blue and pink define a series of light coves that distinguish zones for reception and waiting, evoking the sunsets that residents can expect over the Charles. Other material selections draw from the building’s existing character – a stone reception desk references the exterior facade and natural wood elements provide warmth and texture throughout. The reconfigured leasing suite provides staff with the necessary private offices, reception workspace, and lounge, while offering future residents a welcoming waiting area and open setting for leasing discussions.
