Nantasket Beach Revitalization Plan
Today, much of Nantasket Beach is characterized by surface parking lots and over-sized roadways, but it was once home to Paragon Park, a beachfront amusement park that was one of the signature destinations on the South Shore. Working with MassDevelopment, Utile assisted the Town of Hull to create a revitalization plan that envisions the beachfront as a neighborhood town center, breaking down the imposing roadways into pedestrian scaled blocks and streets. The phased plan creates a beautifully-scaled, walkable waterfront for Hull residents and visitors, as well as a unique and compelling ocean-facing retail and restaurant district that is a top destination in New England. The team also incorporated design elements that ensure the development strategy is a model for storm resiliency in the face of rising sea levels.
