About Michael:
Michael is a principal at Utile and has led numerous residential projects in Boston, such as The Quinn, Girard, The Residences at 26 West Broadway, The Laneway, and Center and Stone. He has also been in charge of several civic and institutional projects, including the Jamaica Plain Branch of the Boston Public Library and the Roxbury Branch of the Boston Public Library, which was a recipient of both the 2025 Harleston Parker Medal and AIA’s COTE Top 10 Award. His current projects include On the Dot, a mixed-use, multi-generational residential tower, 248 Dot Ave, a new highrise boutique hotel in South Boston, and the proposed new Center for the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute in Dorchester. His interests range from the logics of construction and material research, to investigating the parametric relationships between code, cost, sustainability, and experiential qualities in building design.
In addition to his professional practice, Michael has taught design studios as a Faculty Associate at Arizona State University and as an adjunct faculty at Northeastern University’s Department of Architecture. He served on the Board of Directors for the Boston Preservation Alliance for eight years and chaired its Advocacy Committee for 4 years. Michael resides in a home he designed and built in Sharon, Massachusetts.
