Boston City Hall Public Spaces Renovation receives Architizer 2019 A+ Award!
We are honored that our Boston City Hall Public Spaces Renovation for the City of Boston has received Architizer’s 2019 A+ Jury Award in the Concepts – Plus-Architecture + Preservation category!
Working with the City of Boston Public Facilities Department, the transformation of Boston City Hall included improvements to its main plaza-level Lobby, a redesign of the public Transaction Windows, and a re-energizing of the facade’s original intent through a renewed lighting scheme. Designed by Kallmann, McKinnell & Knowles in the 1960s the original design sought to express a more open and progressive form of municipal government. Recognized among the most innovative municipal buildings of mid-century America, Boston City Hall is also internationally celebrated as an exemplar of Brutalism. The project team worked tirelessly and collaboratively to honor the history of the building while seeking to transform its physical, ideological, and emotional presence within the hearts and minds of Bostonians.
Our love for Boston City Hall runs deep, and we are thrilled to receive recognition for our work there from this prestigious publication!
